JC McCall Plumbing Contractors Ltd
JC McCall Plumbing is the main contributor to the Himalayan Leaky Foundation, with Director and CFO, Clare McCall being at the helm of both entities. HLF was founded in memory of Clare’s father John McCall, who was a household plumber and formed JC McCall Plumbing in 1978. Clare officially joined the business 15 years ago and has helped to grow it from a few staff to over 35 staff. Clare’s vision for JCM includes giving back some of its success to helping others, both locally through organisations such as Rotary, and globally through supporting HLF. Clare’s passion and purpose in business and life, is to give hope and kindness to others, who don’t always have the ability to help themselves. With the support of her JC McCall team, everyone is working towards this goal. Clare belongs to Rotary Westhaven Club in Auckland and works tirelessly for both local and global causes. She has been the driving force behind making sure a Water and Sanitation project got off the ground In Nepal. As you will see in the blogs on this website, huge progress is being made. In the not so distant future, Clare plans to send some of her JC McCall team over to assist the local villages with this project and offer support. In June this year, Rotary Westhaven held a fundraising Gala for over 150 guests, with part of the funds going towards HLF. JC McCall supported this event by giving sponsorship money and many hours of staff time to bring this successful event together. Friends and staff of JC McCall have got behind HLF in many other ways, from booking trekking tours through the foundation to making one-off donations to support a literacy class. Every little bit helps and makes a difference. The more successful JC McCall Plumbing becomes, the more the people of Nepal will benefit. It is a win-win situation for everyone. Rotary
HLF Co-founder Clare McCall joined her club, Rotary Westhaven D9910 in January 2016. She wanted to work with like-minded people and help make a difference both on a local and global level.
The Rotary Westhaven Club, along with the Rotary Foundation have been major supporters of the Himalayan Leaky Foundation, raising much needed funds to get projects off the ground. Rotary Westhaven gave a club donation of $1000NZD and then the Rotary Foundation accepted HLF as a ‘Charity of Choice’ and provided a grant for $125,000USD towards the Thamdanda Water & Sanitation Project.
For the last two years, Rotary Westhaven have held a fund-raising gala and auction to raise funds for HLF and Auckland City Mission. These events help to raise the profile of these charities. Photo presentations are used to display the work that is being done. For HLF, this includes water and sanitation projects, literacy classes, trafficking awareness and women empowerment initiatives.
As a Rotary member, Clare has had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at various clubs, talking to people about the Himalayan Leaky Foundation. Recently she spoke to the Rotary Club of Milford (in Auckland), showing photos of all the work being done in Nepal and giving updates on projects and initiatives such as literacy classes and the water and the sanitation project.
The Rotary Club of Kavre-Banepa in Nepal works closely with HLF to help manage the Thamdanda Water and Sanitation project.
Rotary is truly a global organization that enables people to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
